About the Event… How It Works

Welcome to The Iguana Story Hour, Puerto Vallarta’s exciting new storytelling event inspired by the spirit of true, personal narratives. Hosted by the vibrant Crissy the Brazilian, this evening brings together locals, visitors, and remote viewers worldwide for laughter, emotion, and connection. Join us in person at the stunning Brasero.pv restaurant or tune in live via streaming platforms.

  • Time Zone: Central Standard Time (CST, UTC-6) — Puerto Vallarta local time (same as Mexico City Time)
  • Dinner & Mingling: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM CST Come early for dinner, drinks, and to settle in!
  • Show Time (Storytelling): 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM CST… The main event featuring live stories from the mic (and Zoom).

How to Participate in Storytelling

To keep the evening fun, respectful, and on track for everyone:

  • Story Length: 3–10 minutes per storyteller. A gentle timer will be used—practice to fit comfortably within this range.
  • Theme: This first time we are not suggesting a theme. If you need ideas, please check out our Story Ideas Page.
  • True Stories Only: Share personal, true experiences. No fiction.
  • Respectful Content: Stories should suit a diverse audience. Avoid hate speech, discrimination, politics, religion, or harmful content. We embrace vulnerability, humor, and heart—keep it positive and inclusive.
  • Submission Process: Fill out our online form to pitch your story (include a brief summary). Everyone must include their email and/or phone number. We’ll review submissions and select a diverse lineup.

How the Event Runs

A relaxed, delicious evening that turns into pure storytelling magic:

  • 6:00 PM CST – Early Arrival & Dinner Come early (strongly encouraged!) to secure a good table for dinner and drinks. There are also some outdoor tables with speakers, so you can still hear the stories clearly even if you’re outside.  Dogs welcome.
  • 6:00 – 7:45 PM CST – Arrival, Check-In & Pre-Show Vibes Settle in, enjoy the menu, and mingle. If you’re telling a story, check in with Crissy or her helpers as soon as you arrive—we’ll confirm the lineup and do quick tech/sound checks if needed. Note for storytellers: We don’t provide priority seating for those on the roster. If you’re telling a story, make a point of arriving early to get a good spot!
  • 8:00 PM CST – Showtime! The storytelling begins!
  • 8:00 – 10:00 PM CST – Storytelling 
  • Note: Kitchen closes at 10:00pm and the restaurant closes at 11:00pm
